Crestwood Budget Award - Website

CRESTWOOD, MO November 20, 2020 – The City of Crestwood, Missouri has won an award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its budget planning efforts.

The GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award represents an achievement for Crestwood, reflecting a commitment by the Board of Aldermen to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide, and a communications device.

To receive the award, budget documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and in fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.

City Administrator Kris Simpson accepted the award on behalf of the city.

“I am pleased that Crestwood has earned this recognition for the fourth year in a row,” Simpson said. “I hope residents are encouraged by our efforts to meet the highest standards in governmental budgeting.”

A total of 1,143 cities in the U.S. and Canada received this award, out of nearly 20,000 cities in both countries, which places Crestwood in the top 6 percent in both countries for its budgeting.
